Artfully hand-carved wooden wall relief Irminsul. As this item is handmade in Indonesia, variations in shape, colour and size are possible. This does not represent a defect, but makes each piece unique.
The Irminsul or Erminsul was the largest early medieval sanctuary of the Saxons and is also known as the World Column. It was a mighty tree trunk that served as a support for the universe and was erected in a sacred, consecrated place on a hilltop, at a spring or in a grove.
