Benzoin Sumatra
Benzoin Sumatra is the resin of a Storax tree (Styrax benzoin Dryand.) and has a slightly more astringent fragrance than Benzoin Siam, but also contains vanillin and has a somewhat cinnamon-like note. It can be used very well for purification, protection and blessing. In early Europe, benzoin was also smoked for colds. In our modern times, benzoin is the main ingredient of most incense sticks because of its wonderful fragrance.
