Myrtle (Myrtus communis) is an evergreen shrub from the myrtle family (Myrtaceae), a richly branched shrub that can reach heights of up to 5 metres. In ancient Greece, the myrtle was dedicated to the goddess Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty. Myrtle twigs are considered a symbol of virginity and vitality.
